Dear Milly,

MillyYou’re the greatest dog in the world. You may not know cool tricks, but you jumped in my life and caught my heart with all of your love. That’s the greatest trick I have ever seen. You make me smile when I’m sad and you make me laugh when I’m mad–you are truly an amazing pooch. Your nickname says all that you do, you silly Milly. You wag your tale when I come home and your tongue hangs out after a long day of playing in the yard. Our house might not be good enough for you to play at, but you have seemed to make yourself feel at home in my heart. I love you my silly Milly.

Family Reunited with Black Lab 7 Years After Fire

A dog who vanished during the 2007 San Diego firestorm has been reunited with his family after nearly 7 years.

John Hartman and his family not only lost their home in the devastating fire that burned half a million acres of land, but they lost their black Labrador retriever named Buddy, too.  Soon after, they packed up and headed to Oklahoma.

But during a recent trip to San Diego to visit their son, the Hartmans received a call they never expected. On the other end of the line was the Department of Animal Services–calling to tell them their beloved Buddy had been found. It was all thanks to a microchip that was planted in his neck two years prior to the fires.

The Hartmans had never given up hope that buddy came back to them. “I was pretty shocked,” Hartman told Fox 5 San Diego. “When we finally got to see him he looked the same. Somebody really took care of him.” According to Hartman, Buddy came to him the moment he called his name.

Dear Soto,

Soto

Last year on September 24th
we vowed to love and take care of you from that day forth,
that vow would always hold true
because we saw the suffering you went through!
You remind us to always stop and smell the flowers and to always find fun amongst the sun showers!
To never judge others by just a glance
to invite people into your pack and give them a chance!
You remind us that it’s important to stretch everyday
to always find time to go out and play!
People tell us that you are spoiled
but we believe a doggy like you should be treated like royal!
Daddy calls you our four-legged child
whose temper is meek and mild!
With daddy you like to wrestle
but with mommy you like to nestle!
You’re always there to give us hugs and kisses
as well as to lick our dishes!
The people who know you have lots of nicknames
but Soto there is no other dog that could ever be the same!
We were blessed the day we rescued you
and look forward to much happiness and good times to come too!
