Dear Jakie

Dear Jakie Poo,

I remember the day I rescued you, but actually you rescued me.

I had recently moved to Nashville from New York and did not have many friends yet.  I was feeling very homesick and alone since it was my first time without any roommates, and I was second guessing if I should have moved so far away without knowing anyone.

I was at my new job and we were producing a segment on television about dogs for adoption. It turned out you were too anxious to be in front of the audience, so you stayed in the back.   One of my co-workers saw you and said the cutest and most big-hearted pup was in need of a home.

Later that day I decided to drive to the shelter you were in and meet you. When I went up to your crate you came right out and put your head on my knee. From that moment on I knew you were my doggy and we walked out of there together.  For 5 years you have not left my side.

You were there for all the really sad times, but also for the life changing, happy ones.

Like the time you and I were doing our normal routine at the apartment Doggy park where I would run back and forth with you to burn some of your fun energy. That day, you met another doggy you liked to play with named Cooper;  we started going at the same time so you two could play together. Well, it turns out Cooper's dad and I fell in love... and now we are married!  You have 2 doggy siblings and a little human sibling named Reagan that you love.

So Jakie this happy life we live is all because of you! You are really my best friend.

Love,

Your mama

Happy Street
