You are six years old now…wow! Time has really flown. I will always remember you as the only puppy in the litter that wanted nothing to with us when we went to pick you up. The only thing bigger than your attitude were the rolls covering you from head to toe. You lived up to your nickname of “ankle-biter”, flunked out of puppy school and let us know from Day One that you were in charge. It took a lot of convincing, but I feel like you have settled in more than comfortably with our family(and onto the couch).
I truly hope that you are happy with your decision to let us be your humans. We have tried to provide you with the best life possible because you deserve no less! You have barked at Grizzlies in Alaska, stuck your nose into tidepools in Oregon, chased lizards in Southern Utah…and, well, slept through most of a cross-country road-trip.
I want to thank you for letting us take you home that day six years ago, and for making our lives better in more ways than I can count. Thank you for not laughing when you see me naked. Thank you for not covering your ears when I sing. Thank you for allowing me to dress you up in some of the most ridiculous Halloween costumes- Hershey Kiss, Easter Bunny, etc. Thank you for always being up for anything…walks, naps, treats, and more naps. Thank you for letting me cry into your fur when I am down and no one else understands. But you always understand. Because you are mine. And I am yours.
I love you more than all of the frozen waffles in the world and I know you love me more than all of the dog biscuits in the world. I will enjoy growing old, fat and grey alongside you, dear friend.
