Dear Maggie,

Maggie

When I first met you, I was skeptical. You were the result of an incidental breeding between a brother and sister. You came from a household that had 11 other dogs and 2 unsupervised children under the age of 4. You were neglected, abused and expected to fend for yourself. But you were on your way to a shelter.

The moment I held you, I was in love. Your smell. Your warmth. Your puppy kisses.

You were a handful. You ate every unsuitable thing in the house–shoes, tools, the couch, and the list goes on.

But in teaching you…you taught me.

Everything I’ve learned about properly caring for dogs I’ve learned from you. The importance of training, regular exercise and mostly the experience of unconditional love.

Without you, I don’t know how I would have dealt with some very difficult times. And I am so grateful for you and all your puppy kisses, cuddles and reminders of how beautiful the world really is.

When you hurt, I hurt with you. And when you smile my heart sings.

I love you Maggie. Thank you for making my world so much brighter. It will always better with you in it Bubba!

Breed: Pitbull Mix
