New Year, New Puppy

Did the new year find you with a new puppy?

If so, congratulations, and we have a fun giveaway for you new parents! Send us a picture of your new baby by Twitter or Instagram with #NewYearNewPuppy or message us directly via Facebook or alettertomydog@gmail.com for the chance to win a copy of Training for Both Ends of the Leash, a must-read book by the award-winning dog trainer Kate Perry who has trained over 3,000 dogs, including those owned by Anna Wintour, Jon Stewart, Bruce Weber, Oliver Platt, Mike Myers and Sandra Bernhard. We will chose 5 lucky winners at random in the U.S. The contest closes Tuesday January 15, 2013 at 5pmPT.

A great book for any dog owner, but especially those who have a new dog under their wings, Training for Both Ends of the Leash will help take that warm, fuzzy, head-over-heels puppy love and turn it into a rock solid bond; i.e. a best friend who knows the bathroom is outside, the crate is his friend, and you are in charge.

One of our favorite parts of the book is Perry’s tried-and-tested theory that dogs can be best understood by their canine-ality, which she has narrowed down to the Party Animal, Methodical Thinker, Sensitive Artist and Workaholic. Perry has seen time and time again that with an understanding of a dog’s canine-ality, an owner can elicit maximum obedience, diminish stress and solidify a trusting relationship.

Here is a quick overview of Perry’s Canine-alities…tell us which your dog is and please do send along a photo of your new puppy #NewYearNewPuppy!
